Mortal Kombat X’s “Quitality” will punish quitters with a head explosion

Mortal Kombat X Quitality

You’re in the zone, tearing into your opponent like a child into his loot on Christmas morning, and you’re about to cap off your impressive bout with your favorite Fatality. I mean, just to rub it in how much better you are than your opponent. And then it happens… he quits, denying you the pleasure of topping off your performance. What nerve!

Not to worry. NetherRealm Studios has a small solution in Mortal Kombat X for rage quitters who decide to leave a fight early. While not half a satisfying as delivering the final blow yourself, the latest entry in the popular fighting series has a new “Quitality” that will cause the character’s head to rupture. Of course, the quitter won’t be around to witness their shameful death, but at least you can take some solace in knowing that blood was spilled thanks to your efforts.

NetherRealm’s Derek Kirtzic emphasized in the Twitch broadcast that this isĀ “really more [about] making the winner look better” rather than punishing the quitter.

Of course, the world would be a better place if this did not happen, but we don’t live in an ideal world, do we? Finish what you start people, whether you are on the winning or the losing end.

Mortal Kombat X will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on April 14. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 version will be released later in the summer.
