Tag Heuer said to reveal smartwatch with Google, Intel tomorrow

Apple isn’t the only one working to create luxury smartwatches. Tag Heuer confirmed earlier this year that it was going to build its own smartwatch with help from major tech partners in Silicon Valley. The firm will announce its new watch, dubbed “BaselWorld,” and it may indeed have very powerful sidekicks.

According to Pocket-Lint, Tag Heuer’s partners include Google and Intel. The depth of its agreement and which firms are providing what technology hasn’t been revealed. It seems likely that Google may help on the software side, though there’s been no indication of the watch running Android Wear, with Intel providing the chips. Rumor has it the announcement will come around 1:00 local time tomorrow in the U.K. during the Basel World show.

There’s been concern that the Apple Watch will disrupt the Swiss watch market, but it appears that early diligence is about to pay off for at least one major firm there. How soon until others, like Swatch, follow? We’ll let you know more about the new Tag Heuer device when we hear more.
