Sony was relatively quiet during Mobile World Congress this year, where Samsung, HTC and other smartphone OEMS made big splashes with new flagship smartphone announcements. Sony unveiled its latest Xperia Z4 Tablet, but it didn’t announce the highly anticipated Xperia Z4 smartphone. A new leak may provide the first real look at the rumored smartphone.
@OnLeaks recently published an image of the alleged Xperia Z4, which appears to be a press render of the smartphone. We can see that the design language hasn’t changed much – there are rounded edges and the same metallic power and volume controls on the right side of the device. It also clearly has Sony’s Android skin pre-installed, in addition to the PlayStation app, which will no doubt allow you to stream PlayStation 4 games to the smartphone.
Sony may be taking a similar approach to LG in announcing its new flagship sometime this spring, perhaps after some of the hype around the One M9 and the Galaxy S6 smartphones has subsided a bit. Sony’s head of PR Tim Harrison recently made comments suggesting that the Xperia Z4 will launch before September, which means we may just have a few more months before it makes its debut.
