HTC still hasn’t revealed the One M9 release date, but the company may finally explain its U.S. launch plans later this week. According to HTC America president Jason Mackenzie, the Taiwanese firm is set to make a big announcement on Wednesday related to its new flagship smartphone.
Going to be an exciting week. In addition to NCAA tourney, HTC has a BIG announcement for US customers on Wednesday. #HTCOneM9

“Going to be an exciting week,” Mackenzie tweeted. “In addition to NCAA tourney, HTC has a BIG announcement for US customers on Wednesday. #HTCOneM9.” T-Mobile has a big event set for that same day, so it’s possible the two companies could be working together on the announcement.
The One M9 offers a similar design to last year’s One M8, with a few great improvements. Most important is the camera, which has been upgraded to a 20-megapixel shooter, with HTC’s UltraPixel lens now taking selfies up front. The company also packed in a bigger battery and an updated version of its in-house Sense software.
We’re looking forward to spending even more time with the device soon. For now, check out our hands on photos of the HTC One M9 above, and stay tuned for more news coming later this week.
