U.S. Galaxy S6 release date revealed in new rumor

The Galaxy S6 is set to launch globally on April 10, but American shoppers may have to wait an extra day to get their hands on Samsung’s new flagship phone. PhoneArena reports that the new device is headed to all four major U.S. carriers on April 11, citing an anonymous sales representative at one of the four cellular service providers.

The source adds that Samsung employees are currently touring the U.S. to walk local retailers through the new device. The company is also expected to release the Galaxy S6 Edge at around the same time, though the device will apparently be available at “limited capacity.” This follows recent reports that the South Korean firm may be struggling to produce the phone’s curved display in high numbers.

Both devices pack similar high-end specs, including an octa-core processor, a Quad HD 5.1-inch display, a 16-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 3GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB/128GB of storage. The only real difference between the two phones is the curved screen and the slightly bigger battery that comes with the Galaxy S6 Edge.

We’ve already spent some time with the Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge, and we’ll have even more coverage once both phones finally hit the market. For now, check out our full S6 gallery at the top of this post along with images of the Galaxy S6 Edge just below.
