Final Fantasy XV isn’t shy about its product placement

Square Enix has a small history of product placement tucked away in the corners of the Final Fantasy franchise. The most notable example I can remember is Cloud’s Panasonic FOMA P900iV cellphone in the opening scenes of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.

But hey, it’s Japan, and cellphones had their own booming culture at the time. Nowadays though, with the iPhone dominating all Japanese products in that market, Square Enix must turn to a product that it might not think to sell to the video gaming crowd:

Camping gear.

Yes, campaign gear. Final Fantasy XV requires a lot of tent pitching and cooking over an open fire while our rockstar runaways elude authorities in the wilderness, and what better brand to use than Coleman?

If Final Fantasy XV’s disturbingly authentic “urban fantasy” setting didn’t strike your heart close enough, then perhaps a Coleman label on the tent, chairs and camping stoves will.

That goes double for all you Boy Scouts out there, too! I know the ins-and-outs of that stove like the back of a square-knot.

Final Fantasy XV‘s demo goes live tomorrow for all you fans who pick up an early copy of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. We’ll be sure to snoop out any other products you might be able to find in your garage.
