Apple Watch shops begin appearing in luxury department stores

Wondering where you’ll be able to pick up the Apple Watch at launch? You’ll be able to buy one directly from Apple online, or through its Apple Store retail locations, but you may also be able to find an Apple Watch in a luxury department store. The Verge said on Monday that it has learned Apple is building a store-in-a-store inside of Isetan, a luxury department store in Tokyo.

The Verge said this specific location inside of Isetan is “sizeable” and that it’s directly next to Cartier, another luxury watchmaker. It also named other department stores where the Apple Watch will make its debut, including Galeries Lafayette and Colette in Paris, Selfridges and Dover Street Market in London, Maxfield in Los Angeles, and The Corner in Berlin. New York City, where there’s no shortage of luxury department strores, appears to be missing from the list for now.

It’s unclear if Apple plans to sell all of its models, including the Apple Watch Sport, Apple Watch and Apple Watch Edition variants, inside all of these stores, or if they’ll cater specifically to the Apple Watch Edition, which starts at $10,000. If there’s a shortage at your local Apple Store come next month, and you’re near a luxury department store, you may want to check out one of these locations instead.
