T-Mobile has another big UnCarrier event coming up next week, but the company isn’t just sitting around until then. This week, T-Mobile started quietly gifting select customers with a free upgrade to unlimited 4G LTE that lasts until the end of 2015.

T-Mobile hasn’t officially confirmed this new program, but a landing page for lucky subscribers uncovered by TmoNews seems to confirm it’s real, and it suggests that the select customers will begin receiving unlimited 4G LTE data starting on April 1. It’s not an April fool’s joke.

The offer is going out to a “small percentage” of T-Mobile subscribers via SMS. The upgrade is automatic, but if you’re not interested you can opt out by texting “STASH” to the phone number 1508 before March 17. It’s possible some customers may prefer to hold onto their current data stash, though we think most people will take the unlimited 4G LTE if it’s offered to them.

T-Mobile already promised it will “rewrite the rules” on March 18 during its next press conference. It’s certainly possible the news could having something to do with these recent customer upgrades. We’ll find out on Wednesday.
