Smas Bros amiibo tournament in Japan

Nintendo has announced a brand new Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tournament event going down at a slew of game and toy stores in Japan on March 14. That much isn’t really all that interesting.

What’s interesting is that the company is pitting amiibo against amiibo. Yep, this tournament will be made up exclusively of combatants from a pool of amiibo. Players will bring their trained figures in, enter them into play and watch them tangle against others’ amiibo.

The winner gets… a free amiibo figure.

Okay, sure, this is an incredibly silly promotion. I, however, think it’s hilarious, and I would absolutely go to a GameStop and enter my MariBro (yep, deal with it) into one of these tourneys. He’d probably get wrecked, but a level 50, the Stars and Stripes wearing character consistently destroys my friends and me.

Do you have any amiibo trained up all the way? Think they could win a tournament?
