Modders remaking WarCraft III in StarCraft II editor

A month or so ago, Blizzard released a slew of WarCraft III assets for use within the official StarCraft II editor. We all sort of hoped something awesome would come from the modding community out of that whole thing, and now it looks like that might actually be happening.

A group of modders is making WarCraft: Armies of Azeroth. According to them, this is a “Starcraft II based remake of WarCraft III, which adds new gameplay features, but saves original balance and graphical design with massive use of resources created by Blizzard Entertainment.”

You can see some Alliance gameplay in the video the modding team released above.

They have no set release date for this mod, so don’t go looking for it yet. As they finish what already looks like an awesome job, we’ll be sure to let you know. So far, this is pretty darn sweet.

Man, those sound clips… right?
