Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End delayed until Spring 2016

Take one of 2015’s banner releases for the PlayStation 4 and push it to next year on your calendar. Naughty Dog Creative Director Neil Druckmann took to the PlayStation Blog to announce the delay of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

Druckmann explains that Uncharted 4‘s vision has sort of expanded.

Since we showed you our first gameplay reveal of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, more of the game and story have come together, and it’s become clear to us that this game is much more ambitious than we originally envisioned.

Druckmann goes on to say that the Naughty Dog team is practically obsessing over the detail, pacing and “nuanced storytelling” of Drake’s next adventure. Good on them, I say, because I want this next beat in the Uncharted franchise to be exceptional.

It’ll mean waiting, of course.

Thank you for your patience — we know the extra wait will be excruciating, but you’ll see it will be worth it as we reveal more about Uncharted 4 over the next year. The team at Naughty Dog will be heads down working through 2015 making sure that Nathan Drake’s story gets the closure it deserves. Come Spring 2016, you and Nate are in for one thrilling, emotional ride.

Tack a few months onto the calendar for this one. In the meantime, let’s look at this as an opportunity to play other games in 2015. There’s going to be a lot this year, and it might be nice to save Uncharted 4 for more of a dead spot in the release lineup.
