Space is lonely and tense in this Adr1ft gameplay video

Revealed as part of IGN‘s First series, a new video of Adr1ft has been revealed, showing off 9 minutes of gameplay.

Adr1ft is an upcoming survival game from studio Three One Zero. There’s no combat, monsters, or anything like that. Think something more like the 2013 film Gravity. The only monster here is how brutal and unforgiving space is.

In this video we see the main character progressing through a series of corridors, picking up oxygen tanks and audio logs. I do have to question why the oxygen tanks only have a minute of air in them, as that pushes against plausibility and could be something that gets old pretty quickly. Hopefully that’ll be addressed by the game’s story.

Even with that, Adr1ft looks gorgeous and tense and could be an interesting departure from the usual first person experiences we see so often in gaming.

Adr1ft doesn’t have a release time frame, but is set for release sometime in 2015.
