It looks like the Nexus 5 is gone once and for all

After seeing the Nexus 5 make a triumphant return to the Google Play store in early February, it looks like all remaining stock has been exhausted. The device is still listed among Google’s devices—right next to the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9—but the handset’s shopping page plainly says that the Nexus 5 “is no longer available for sale.”

That’s a lot different from saying the device isn’t available at this time and might return later; the language is clear and concise. Google late last year confirmed the Nexus 5 would continue to be available for sale until Q1 2015, but with Daylight Savings now behind us, it looks as though the beloved handset is being sent off into the sunset once and for all. That’s a major bummer, because despite its age, the Nexus 5 is still a wonderful phone.

The red and white models aren’t event listed, so it appears we can definitely put them on the endangered species list. The Nexus 6 is Google’s newest flagship—no need to continue selling the more affordable model. You’ll still be able to find the Nexus 5 through other means, such as Craigslist, Best Buy and other retailers, but it will be much harder to come by.

Start saying your goodbyes now. It had a good run.
