Possible Galaxy S6 Active leaks out with Quad HD display

The Galaxy S6 may not offer any protection from the elements, but it looks like Samsung is already working on a water-resistant version of its new flagship phone. An official user agent profile for what just might be the Galaxy S6 Active surfaced on Samsung’s website over the weekend, suggesting it could get an official launch soon.

The device in question sports the model number SM-G890A, making it a likely follow-up to last year’s Galaxy S5 Active (SM-G870A on AT&T). The S6 Active also sports a high-resolution 1440 x 2560-pixel display, though that’s the only spec revealed so far. We’re guessing the new phone will offer similar hardware compared to the flagship Galaxy S6, though it may sport an entirely new design.

Samsung ditched the water-resistant rating included with the Galaxy S5 for a glass and metal design with the S6. It’s definitely possible the Galaxy S6 Active could mean a return to plastic, but as long as the company keeps the same high-end specs it should still be a solid device.

Beyond its 5.1-inch 2K display, the Galaxy S6 packs an octa-core Exynos 7 processor, a 2550mAh battery, a 16-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter, 3GB of RAM and 32/64/128GB of storage. Hopefully the S6 Active can match that hardware.
