This is a good week for bearded guys roaming around in the desert. Not only was the release date for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain announced today, we now know when Avalanche’s Mad Max open world game will get its day in the sun. Both of those just happen to be Sept. 1.
As development has progressed on the game, Warner Bros. and Avalanche have decided to cut loose the previous-gen versions so they can concentrate on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One versions of the game, according to Game Informer.
This is a good year for Mad Max fans. We get to see Tom Hardy’s take on the character on May 15 when Mad Max: Fury Road hits theaters, and then we get a game not even six months later.
With that said, it’s easy to imagine the release date on this game slipping a week or two out to avoid butting heads. With Mad Max set for the beginning of the fall rush like that, it’s likely we’ll see the studio’s other big game, Just Cause 3, make release this year.
Mad Max releases Sept. 1 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, but we can look forward to more info when the next issue of Game Informer hits shelves later this month.
