Pokémon Shuffle already downloaded more than 1 million times

Nintendo 3DS owners around the world have been downloading Pokémon Shuffle in droves. The match-3 puzzle game released less than two weeks ago, and it’s been downloaaded more than 1,000,000 times globally.

The news comes directly from The Pokémon Company on Twitter.

So, right, they’re celebrating the milestone with a free in-game item. Every gamer will have access to a Complexity -1 item. What’s that? Here’s the word.

The Complexity -1 item reduces the variety of Pokémon in the puzzle area by one, making it far easier to make long chains of combos.

Got it? In this puzzle game, having tons of different Pokémon to match on screen makes it harder to build crazy combos. If one less Pokémon shows up during play, you’ll have a stronger chance of building combos and dealing damage. This item normally costs 9,000 in-game coins, a tidy sum.

To get it, all you have to do is check in. After you beat the 11th stage in the game, you’ll see that option on your map screen at all times.

I know people have had varying success and enjoyment when it comes to Pokémon Shuffle. For me, I play for a few minutes and then wait a few hours. I think the wait-to-play ratio is a bit to high, and I’d probably pay $10 to just unlock the game outright.

Maybe I’m crazy.
