UPDATE: A possible leak of tomorrow’s news has revealed the release date for the game. September 1st, worldwide. Read more here.
The official Japanese website for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is teasing an announcement for the upcoming game with a countdown clock. The timer will reach zero at 9 AM EST, 6 AM PST Wednesday morning.
The only hint about the announcement I can see on the website is in the bottom corner, exclaiming “2015 Out.” This little bit of text, plus hints earlier this year regarding a spring announcement, all point towards Konami being ready to set Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’s official release date.

Even if it turns out to be just the Japanese release date, which won’t happen, at least we’ll have an estimation on when we can expect the latest in Hideo Kojima’s espionage action series.
Any bets on when we will be playing Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain? The series doesn’t usually like to align itself up with the holiday rush, so my guess is that it will be released on the tail end of the spring season or just after E3, giving gamers three months to dig through its open espionage world.
Chalk me down for mid-June, most likely the 23rd. Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
