Sony accidentally lost a list of Japanese PlayStation 4 winners

If you live in Japan and purchased a current PlayStation system – 3, 4, Vita or Vita TV – between Dec. 4 and Jan. 15, you had the chance to enter into a contest to win one of the limited edition 20th Anniversary PlayStation 4 consoles.

It appears, however, that someone at Sony did the corporate equivalent of taping over the video of your kid’s first birthday. The information Sony collected, according to a news post from Sony translated by Kotaku, has been lost and is not recoverable.

“Our deepest apologies for the trouble we have caused to those who entered the previous campaign,” Sony wrote.

Those buyers can re-enter the contest by sending in their information again and hoping lightning doesn’t strike twice.
