How could I not get excited about a press release from Interplay that starts off with, verbatim, “LET’S GET READY TO CRUMMMMBLLLLLLLE!!!?”
The company has announced that it’s getting together with Drip Drop Games to remaster ClayFighter, a title originally released for the SNES and then ported to the Genesis. The original year of release? 1993. It’s been 22 years since ClayFighter!
This ClayFighter remaster does not have an official updated name, but it does have a PC release window of 2016. Even better, it features all of the ClayFighter series goodness, not just the characters and simple attacks in the original title. The press release featured this rundown.
- Characters such as Bad Mr. Frosty, Blue Suede Goo, Earthworm Jim, Hoppy, Boogerman, Tiny – and more with over 20 characters total!
- Over 20 familiar environments from the series to duke it out in!
- Brand new gameplay introducing new mechanics to the series such as double jumping, air dashing, counters, and reversals!
- Unique supers and ‘Claytality’ moves for each character!
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse gave us a touch of the clay in HD feeling. ClayFighters should take that gorgeous look even further, and I can’t wait to relive childhood on my PC while beating people with The Blob!
