Last year’s charming little action throwback to the Mega Man Zero series, Azure Striker Gunvolt, has been confirmed to have a sequel in the works via developer Inti Creates’ official Facebook page. Little other news was provided besides the Nintendo 3DS as the destined platform.

As we reported on our Twitter, Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 is coming!!!

After all the support we received from our fans, we decided that we are going to give Gunvolt a second installment on the Nintendo 3DS!

As time goes on we will have more information, but for now, we are happy to report that Gunvolt is coming back to strike once again!

Azure Striker Gunvolt debuted at the Japanese indie convention BitSummit 2014 in Kyoto last year, touting Mega Man co-creator Keiji Inafune as its producer. The game seemed to be a little side project of his while both Inti Creates and his own studio, Comcept, hammer out Kickstarter sensation Mighty No. 9 . However, in the face of its big brother, Azure Striker Gunvolt captured my heart at the convention and has so far proven to be the superior game.

I said in my review that it wasn’t perfect with some pretty rudimentary platforming, but there was plenty of potential here to make a stellar franchise for Inti Creates’ library. Its story also ends on a cliffhanger, and that little annoyance needs to be wrapped up. I can’t wait for more information!
