It’s still a little early for Google’s in the year new Nexus devices. We probably won’t see the company launch a new stock Android phone or tablet until late 2015, but today we may be getting a first taste of what’s to come.
According to GizmoChina, Google is planning to launch two new Nexus devices this year. The first, from LG, could target the high-end, while a second Huawei-made model might aim for the low-cost market. It sounds like these are both smartphones, leaving the door open for a new Nexus tablet as well, though GizmoChina’s source doesn’t specify.
We’d take this rumor with a grain of salt though. Like we said, it’s too early to know anything with certainty, and GizmoChina doesn’t exactly have a perfect track record either. Still, we like the direction Google might be headed in.
Releasing two new Nexus phones this year could give it a chance to offer something for everyone. LG has also done solid work on previous Nexus entries, so we’re sure the South Korean company would knock this one out of the park too. As for Huawei, the Chinese firm has made a name for itself selling solid devices at a reasonable price, making it a perfect fit as well.
