I’ve yet to jump into Far Cry 4’s dangerous world of Kyrat, but Ubisoft seems to have created the first game in history in which the DLC looks like it could be even more exciting than the actual campaign. Immersive and expansive first-person shooter worlds are somewhat exciting to me, I guess, but how often do you get the chance to battle against a Yeti in a video game?
Is there any way I can play this on its own, like Blood Dragon?
“Valley of the Yetis” crash lands the player deep into the snow capped mountains of the Himalayas. An abandoned campsite proves to be the only hope for survival, but a local and deadly cult is hellbent on taking it back. The player must defend his turf until help arrives, but he’ll soon discover that the cult is the least of his problems when the giant mythological beasts start rampaging as well.
I’m all aboard for “Valley of the Yetis.” I’ve always believed that dancing the line between taking yourself too seriously and being too silly is a tight-rope act not many should attempt. Blood Dragon was a barrel full of fun, but it came off a little too silly to hit that mark. “Valley of the Yetis,” though, has this underlining mythology meets reality theme that makes you fear for your life but also lets you pretend you are living out the legends you heard as a kid.
The DLC pack launches on Mar. 10 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. Those with the season pass will find it ready to go on that day. Others will have to buy it separately.
