Minecraft. It’s big in Japan.

Sony has announced that Minecraft has sold more than 500,000 copies across the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PS Vita in Japan since its release. In that same announcement, Sony indicated that it is giving the PS Vita a physical retail version in addition to the one that’s already being sold digitally. The PS Vita version of Minecraft makes up 200,000 sales alone.

Could this be the most successful Microsoft game ever released in Japan? Probably. If it isn’t already, it likely will be over the next few months.

Minecraft is phenomenal wherever it lands, apparently. It’s the best selling PC game of all time, and it does extremely well on each additional platform. Microsoft picked it up to the tune of $2.5 billion last year. I imagine its sales pace in Japan is making the company very, very happy.
