Apple didn’t really say how water resistant the Apple Watch will be, but the fact that it hasn’t advertised that aspect of its new wearable suggests that it won’t be. You probably wouldn’t want to go swimming with that super expensive gold Apple Watch Edition smartwatch anyway, right? Apparently it will be somewhat water resistant, at least according to a new report from iGen.
The site said Wednesday that it learned of a visit by Tim Cook to an Apple Store in Berlin, Germany, where the Apple CEO discussed his usage of the new Apple Watch. Cook allegedly said that he wears it “even in the shower,” and that he charges it every single night. That suggests, as earlier reports have, that you’ll need to charge your Apple Watch more frequently than some of the smartwatches competitors. The Pebble Time, announced yesterday, offers up to 7 days of battery life.
That water-resistance is appreciated, however. Sure, most Android Wear devices can hang out in the shower with you, and the Pebble Watch is even more water resistant. The Microsoft Band, however, isn’t supposed to ever take a dunk. Let’s just hope the Apple Watch doesn’t record those shower tunes you’ve been singing.
