Gamers obviously have very little hesitation about committing mass murder within the ranks of the Dark Lord Sauron’s armies. Shadow of Mordor developer Monolith Productions has released some very telling statistics for its sleeper-hit action game, showing how little mercy gamers have when facing the menacing Uruks.
Since the game’s launch on Sept. 30, the ranger Talion has amassed a collective 5.65 billion Uruk murders across every copy of the game sold. To put that number in perspective, that is 70 percent of the world’s population!
Other interesting stats are the 200 million dominations of Uruks, stealing their minds and sending them against opponents, 10.7 million revenge kills, and a grand total of 74.6 million hours played since launch! I think it’s safe to say that Warner Bros. is pleased with the game’s performance, especially since a lot of gamers gave it the cold shoulder until the critic scores rolled in.
We had it ranked as one of our best games of 2014, and now that I think about it, I still have the second map to inspect and conquer. Maybe I’ll give it another go during the quiet summer months and add to these stats.
