Twitter for Android finally catches up with iOS features

Last month Twitter rolled out a new feature meant for anyone who checks their timeline just a few times a day or less. “While You Were Away” offers a quick recap of everything you missed for the company’s iPhone app, and now it’s available for Android too.

The recently-announced feature promises to serve up a quick list of curated tweets, creating a snapshot of what you missed since the last time you checked in. If you check Twitter obsessively it probably won’t show up very often, but if you’re a more laid back user this could help you stay up to date.

The company’s been adding new features at breakneck speed recently, rolling out group Direct Messages, built-in video recording and an Instant Timeline for new users. Now it’s time to make sure everyone has access to the latest and greatest version of Twitter.

Today’s Android update is a good start, though we’re still waiting for the new feature to arrive on the desktop version of Twitter as well.
