One M9: HTC reveals new feature coming to its flagship

HTC’s always prided itself on the BoomSound speakers that come with its smartphones, and it looks like they could be getting an upgrade with the upcoming One M9. The company teased an even better speaker experience on Twitter this week ahead of an event set for March 1 in Barcelona.

The message here seems pretty clear: expect louder and better speakers on the HTC one M9. It’s unclear if that means the speaker grills themselves will actually be bigger, or if they’ll just pack more of a punch. Either way, we’re excited to see—or rather hear—what the company has planned.

Beyond its upgraded speakers, the HTC One M9 is expected to offer a 1080p display, improved cameras, a Snapdragon 810 processor and 3GB of RAM. It also looks set to run Android 5.0 out of the box along with an upgraded version of the company’s own Sense software. On the design side of things the M9 could look a lot like last year’s M8, despite a few tweaks to its metal form.

HTC may need more than just a slight design refresh to compete with the latest from Samsung, Apple and the rest of the industry. Hopefully those BoomSound speakers really do pack a punch.
