New Moto X users on AT&T will soon be receiving their Android 5.0 Lollipop update after the carrier kicked off its soak test this weekend. Invites are going out to a select few who will be given the chance to try the software before its public debut.
While the vast majority are still waiting for now, this is an exciting indication that the Lollipop upgrade is close. Providing no major issues are found with this build during the soak test, it could be rolled out to the masses in just a couple of weeks.
Android 5.0 for the AT&T Moto X is identical to that reaching Moto X handsets on other carriers. Users can expect to see features like Smart Lock and lock screen notifications, as well as significant performance and battery life improvements.
And because Motorola doesn’t skin its Android software like Samsung, HTC, and others, Moto X users also get to enjoy Google’s gorgeous Material Design makeover the way it was intended.
AT&T is a little late to the Lollipop party when it comes to the 2014 Moto X, with the software already reaching handsets on Verizon, and the unlocked Moto X Pure Edition way back in November. But at least it is on its way now.
