Square Enix relaunches online store and rewards program

Final Fantasy Quina

It’s about time. For a while, I felt like shopping on the old Square Enix online store was like looking into a time warp back into the late 1990s. Not only was the design of the website severely rough and outdated, it also had products from the PSOne days like Front Mission 3 and Chrono Cross!

Now, that store front really has become a thing of the past. Square Enix has relaunched its online store to bring it up to speed with the modern world, and it is a welcome improvement.

Along with the overhaul comes a new Square Enix Members Rewards Program for repeating buyers. Fans who buy through the store will be able to amass points and earn exclusive prizes, similar to those found on Club Nintendo. No prizes have been announced just yet, but I wonder if Square Enix will ever get around to handing out free games like they are going out of style.

Anybody who signs up early will get an automatic 50 bonus points towards the program, and pre-ordering the incoming Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Collector’s Edition will also land 50 bonus points.

And don’t look now, but those old PSOne games are still there under the PlayStation 2 section! Anybody need a spare copy of Final Fantasy Anthology for $14.99?

Sounds interesting. Square Enix is probably the only company I will buy physical products from anymore just to decorate my shelves with. Yes, I have an unhealthy problem when it comes to Square Enix, through the goods times and the bad. Looks like things are starting to turn “good” again!
