One more week to go until the launch of Resident Evil Revelations 2, and Capcom’s survival-horror game has quite a lot to live up to despite being a relatively small release.
What do I mean? Well, the previous game in sub-series, Resident Evil Revelations HD, has been praised by many long time fans as the most solid return-to-form in the post-Resident Evil 4 world. Let’s not forget either that the franchise has already seen a massively successful release in 2015 with the excellent Resident Evil HD Remaster.
Resident Evil Revelations 2 also brings Barry Burton, a fan-favorite minor character, to the forefront of the series for the first time in almost 20 years, and it is experimenting with a smaller budget and episodic releases.
So yeah, this is a very promising title for Capcom, and plenty of implications for the series’ future are riding on how successful it becomes.
Capcom obviously wants it to be big, so it has released a new trailer to spell out everything you need to know about the release. The main players in the story, the plot, the payment plan, the episodic release schedule. Absolutely everything needed to make an educated day-one purchase can be seen in this trailer. Just nothing on Raid Mode for some strange reason seeing that it was one of the main reasons for the sub-series’ success.
Resident Evil Revelations 2 will be released on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PS Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC on Feb. 24, and it will see episodic content released over the course of a month.
