I’m all about finally giving DmC: Devil May Cry a spin when it gets released as a Definitive Edition on March 10. Even before its release, Capcom has done an incredible job of setting it apart from other definitive editions by going insane with the content and gameplay modes.
This is more than just a 60fps/1080p facelift we’re talking here.
Far and away the most exciting of the new modes is Turbo Mode. I don’t need any of the artificial difficulty adjustments like “only do damage when at an S-rank” kind of nonsense. I’m more about shaking up the actual core gameplay, and making it all fly at your face 20 percent faster sounds like a brilliant way to get that done.
A new 60fps comparison trailer shows the difference between the original running speed and the new turbo mode. Just by watching, you might think that the normal speed is actually running in slow motion! Similar to Bravely Default, when I had the battle animations running at 4x the normal speed, setting it to normal makes DmC seem like an absolute crawl.
If I set the game to Turbo Mode on my first playthrough though, would that make the standard speed fun to go back to? Not likely.
DmC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition will launch for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on March 10.
