Samsung’s next tablet will reportedly be thinner than Apple’s iPad Air 2 (6.1mm). SamMobile says the Korean company isn’t just prepping new handsets, but tablets, too, with two new Galaxy Tab S slates in the pipeline. The device will allegedly mirror the more premium look of the Galaxy S6 (and S Edge), providing a more consistent design portfolio across its lineup.
The bigger details, such as specs, aren’t revealed by SamMobile’s anonymous sources, though the Galaxy Tab S2 will apparently feature two different sizes in a square aspect ratio: 8-inch and 9.7-inch. It’s unclear if Samsung has plans to introduce any devices larger than that; the tablet trend has been to downsize, which could be why no 10.5-inch model is mentioned. The previous Tab S came in 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch variants.
That’s about all we get out of SamMobile’s report. I’d imagine these devices to have incredibly high resolution displays, along with the latest specs. Beyond that, it’s unclear how the devices will stand out among the busy tablet crowd. Will one of them have a curved screen? That would certainly be unique, though nothing is mentioned by SamMobile.
Samsung is holding an event on March 1, which is just a few weeks away. Judging by the rumors we’ve been hearing, it sounds like the company will have a major mobile lineup to show off.
