Is there a place somewhere in the universe where gravity might work like it does in Super Mario World?

Joining the likes of Idea Channel and Game/Show is the new channel Space Time, which aims to use elements of popular culture to explore space and physics. So what better planet to start on than Mario World?

There’s a lot of math in this video, but it’s explained in a pretty straight forward way. He starts with some questions that have been asked and answered before – how tall is Mario, how high can he jump, and what is gravity like compared to the gravity we experience here on Earth? The answers to those questions are then used to figure out where in our universe the conditions of Super Mario World could exist – if anywhere. It turns out Mario has some pretty strong muscles for a short plumber and the Mushroom Kingdom has some pretty intense gravity.
