Microsoft on Wednesday announced that it’s now officially rolling out the Lumia Denim update to the Lumia Icon on Verizon Wireless in the United States. The Lumia Denim update first started rolling out in December. It’s already available for several devices, including the Lumia 930 and Lumia 830, but has stalled when it comes to the U.S.-version of the Lumia 930, likely due to Verizon’s stringent software certification program.
Microsoft said that the update means Icon owners will skip the Lumia Cyan update altogether, which is great but also a sign of just how slow Verizon is to push these updates out, and devices will update from Lumia Black right to Lumia Denim. You can expect 4K video recording, quicker camera snapping features, a new Glance screen when the device is idle, the addition of live folders and more.
Icon owners should make sure they have at least 1GB of storage available before starting the update. You can manually check for it in settings > phone update > check for updates if you don’t notice an update already. Check out the video below for a walkthrough on how to apply the update now.
