Picking up a New 3DS XL? Here’s how you transfer your content

Nintendo’s set to release a brand new handheld this week with the New Nintendo 3DS XL. They starkly believe the vast majority of its purchasers are picking it up as an upgrade to their previous 3DS systems, as evidenced by the fact that this new one won’t be coming with an AC adapter.

The company has published a YouTube video that serves as a how-to for content transfer. There are a few potential snags when moving from system to system, so you’ll absolutely want to watch the clip if you plan on making the upgrade by transfering your content between handhelds.

The biggest rule? Don’t make a new NNID on the New 3DS XL before you transfer your data. Your games are all tied to your ID now, so you’ll need to bring that along with you when you move your games.

I’m hoping my transfer goes swimmingly, though I didn’t have any problems when moving from the 3DS to the 3DS XL. Let’s see a repeat of that, please.
