It’s been suspected since the release of the original Titanfall that the property’s Xbox exclusivity would be limited to that first entry. Word from Electronic Arts’ CFO Blake Jorgensen is making that more likely than ever.
“Last year it was on the Xbox only; in the future, we haven’t announced, but we’ll probably have another Titanfall game,” Jorgensen said. “It will probably be a bigger footprint than just a single platform. I think that’s a huge positive for us.”
Jorgensen also said that the publisher plans to put out at least one new FPS each year. We can expect Battlefield Hardline and Star Wars Battlefront this year, a new Battlefield game next year, and the next Titanfall after that.
Titanfall developer Respawn has plenty of time to work on the next version of its mech-heavy shooter. It ended up being one of my favorite games in 2014, so I look forward to seeing what can be do with a bigger player base and, just maybe, an actual campaign.
