Stuck for something to watch at 3 am? Shout Factory may have the answer for you thanks to its new service.

Shout Factory has made a name for itself over the years as being the go to place to find movies and television shows on DVD that other companies simply didn’t know what to do with. One of its biggest titles is of course the cult classic Mystery Science Theater 3000. As the world transitions away from physical media, however, what is Shout Factory to do with all of this great content? Easy, it’s moving into streaming media.

Shout Factory has announced the launch of ShoutFactoryTV which you can watch from your computer, on mobile devices or Roku streaming devices. The majority of the shows and movies are shown with ad support, but in some cases – such as the aforementioned MST3K – you can rent programming for 99 cents to watch it ad free.

Some of the shows and movies included in the free service include:

  • The Weird Al Show
  • It’s Garry Shandling’s Show
  • Father Knows Best
  • The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis
  • Fridays
  • MST3K (30 episodes to start)
  • The Saint
  • A Room With a View
  • Hoop Dreams

Shout Factory plans to add more programming and original content as the service continues.

I’ve been watching the channel via my Roku part of this weekend, and beyond some odd choices as to when to take a commercial break, there’s a lot to watch, and with no subscription fee it’s definitely going to fill some hours of television watching.
