Samsung’s Gear VR headset was first spotted at Best Buy back in Sept., but the company may finally be ready for a full in-store rollout. SamMobile reports that the virtual reality gadget will be available to demo and buy in more than 100 stores starting this Sunday, Feb. 8.
Best Buy will reportedly offer four different 3-minute demos for the Gear VR. Visitors can check out Milk VR, play a “gamelike experience” called TheBlu, experience an immersive version of the Transformers movie, or enjoy the 360 Photos app. SamMobile adds that the goal of these demos is actually to sell more Galaxy Note 4 units, which will of course be on hand to power the Gear VR.
If this early rollout is a success we should see the virtual reality device show up at even more Best Buy locations around the country. Of course, you can also buy Gear VR for yourself either in-store or online for $199, but it’s definitely worth trying the demo first if possible before shelling out for what’s still a pretty limited gadget.
