Dragon’s Dogma surprised us all because it came out of nowhere and turned out to be a pretty solid game. Unrefined as crude oil, but solid none the less. I’m now calling on Dragon’s Dogma Online to equally surprise us all, because it will come out and be a pretty solid game in spite of our cynicism towards it.
Initial reactions to the idea of a Dragon’s Dogma online RPG were met with universal disdain and “meh,” but one really solid trailer and a new batch of screenshots have landed it on my radar. Not that I think it will be amazing or anything, but my dismissive attitude towards it has totally evaporated.
This gallery focuses on the element which stood out as the first game’s strength: its monster design. Great Stone Dragons (I need to watch Mulan), orcs, cyclopes, sea dragons. Where and how Capcom found the inspiration to create such beasts is beyond me, but they are once again the highlight of the show. Can’t wait to see more!
Dragon’s Dogma Online will be a free-to-play MMORPG for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC. No English localization announced yet, so we’ll have to wait and see if Capcom graces us with its presence.
