Borderlands: The Handsome Collection’s Fake Super Bowl Ad is the Strangest

by Joey Davidson | February 2, 2015February 2, 2015 10:30 am PDT

Well, this video from Gearbox flips from awkward to hilarious to disgusting and back again pretty darn quickly. The studio released what it bubbed the “Hyperion CL4P-TP Big Game Unfinished Commercial,” claiming that it missed the deadline to submit it for a slot during the Super Bowl.

It’s all fake, of course. This is meant to draw a chuckle from us while advertising the ridiculous edition of the upcoming Handsome Collection. “What’s that?” If you’re asking that question, Gearbox wins.

The studio and 2K Games recently announced an Xbox One and PlayStation 4 port of both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. They’re calling it The Handsome Collection, and it’s set to sell for $59.99 on March 24, 2015.

For $399, you can nab a remote controlled Claptrap like you see in the video above as part of a super-limited-edition bundle. Only 5,000 of them are being sold, so you might want to track one down before it’s too late.

“Stairs? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!”
