Majora’s Mask 3D British TV Spot is Just Plain Creepy

For as rich of a history as the franchise has had, The Legend of Zelda has had some pretty infamous TV spots over the years. Whether it is unnecessarily dark or just plain silly, Nintendo’s use of live-action actors in its advertising for the fairy tale series has never quite been able to find a consistent balance to the feel of each game.

Enter Majora’s Mask, a game that many fans regard as the oddball and creepiest of the bunch, and its incoming Nintendo 3DS remake. Nintendo’s love for live-action Zelda commercials simply can’t pass up this opportunity to deliver some solid gold silver screen moments, and boy oh boy does the company not let us down.

This British TV spot for Majora’s Mask is about as frightening as they come. The moon is naturally going to add five degrees of terror no matter what context it is used in, but add to the mix looming eyes, smoky forests, and a creepy, raspy Englishman’s voice telling tales of gloom and doom and you have another wonderful chapter in the history of Legend of Zelda TV spots.

Don’t ever lose that touch, Nintendo. Nothing beats a good live-action trailer.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D will be released for the Nintendo 3DS on Feb. 13.
