Dontnod’s most recent effort, Life is Strange, has started its episodic release schedule. The first entry in this five episode series has released for the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 platforms today.
This game is supposedly one built on player choice and consequence, playing out largely like an interactive drama. That’s my understanding, at least. I’m personally setting it next to titles like Heavy Rain for comparison, though I may be way off.
The good news is that initial critical reviews of the first episode have been surprisingly good. Life is Strange flew in a bit under my radar, and hearing that it’s actually a strong affair is sort of exciting. As such, when I was tapped with a review opportunity by Square Enix, I said yes. So, I have the game downloading on my PlayStation 4 as I type this out.
I’ll have my opinion of Life is Strange‘s first episode in the coming days. For now, I’m already excited by its aesthetics and soundtrack. We’ll see how the rest plays out.
