Metroid Prime Trilogy Launches on Wii U

Alright, Wii U owners, I’m not sure you’re going to see a deal quite like this one from Nintendo for a long time. Much like Super Mario Galaxy 2 two weeks ago and Punch-Out!! last week, Nintendo has released a digital version of Metroid Prime: Trilogy that’s playable natively on the Wii U.

Also just like the aforementioned planet hopping and people punching games, Metroid Prime: Trilogy will sell for half of its permanent price at $9.99. That sale will last until exactly 8:50AM PT on Feb. 5, 2015. That’s how precise the press release reads, I promise.

You can’t get Metroid Prime: Trilogy that cheaply. You simply can’t. Buying it used on places like Amazon will cost you around $40 to $50.

What does this trilogy contain, exactly? It’s essentially the three first person Metroid games made by Retro Studios. Those games were re-released on the Wii for use with the system’s motion controls. Now the three games (Metroid PrimeMetroid Prime 2: Echoes and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption) are getting re-released once more.

They are truly wonderful titles, and if you’ve never played them or you simply want them natively on your Wii U, you won’t beat $9.99 for three of the best games in the Metroid line.
