Samsung’s mid-range Galaxy A series is officially coming to the U.K. next month. Both the Galaxy A3 and the Galaxy A5 will be available from a number of carriers and retailers from Thursday, February 12, but you can pre-order yours from Samsung’s online store today.
Software updates that were released for these handsets earlier this month hinted at an impending European launch, and although they weren’t officially offered by Samsung, some European markets have had them via third-party retailers for a several weeks.
But Samsung has today announced that both the Galaxy A3 and the Galaxy A5 will be available from Carphone Warehouse, EE, O2, and other carriers from February 12. Those who want delivery on launch day can also pre-order their handset from Samsung’s own online store, or one of its brick-and-mortar Experience stores across the U.K., right now.
The Galaxy A3 and the Galaxy A5 are very similar in terms of internal specifications; they both pack 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processors, 16GB of storage, microSD card slots, and 5-megapixel front-facing cameras. They also run the same Android 4.4.4 KitKat software.
However, the Galaxy A3 has a 4.5-inch qHD display, 1.5GB of RAM, and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera; while the Galaxy A5 has a 5-inch 720p display, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera, and faster Wi-Fi.
You’ll be able to get the Galaxy A3 and the Galaxy A5 in Pearl White or Midnight Black, but Samsung hasn’t yet confirmed how much they’ll cost.
