Samsung and HTC are both expected to unveil their latest flagship phones at Mobile World Congress in March, but they may not be the only companies bringing new devices to the Barcelona trade show. Two newly leaked photos from Twitter tipster @leaksfly suggest Huawei could be gearing up to announce a new smartphone as well.
The device appears to be a scaled-down version of the Ascend Mate7, which offers a 6-inch display, suggesting that this “compact” version could still boast a pretty big screen of its own. If we had to guess we’d go with a 5.3-inch to 5.7-inch display, based on the photos above.
The full-sized Ascend Mate7 offers pretty solid hardware, including a 1080p resolution, an octa-core processor, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel shooter up front and a long-lasting 4100mAh battery. Hopefully the Mate7 Compact will offer similar specs, though it seems pretty likely the smaller phone’s battery won’t be quite as massive.
Huawei already has an event set for March 1 at MWC, so at this point we’re not too far away from a possible launch for the Mate7 Compact. We’ll be covering the whole show live from Barcelona, and we’ll be looking to get our hands on whatever the Chinese company has to offer.
For now, check out some images of the full-sized Ascend Mate7 below.
