Previous firmware updates to the Xbox One controller have been a bit tough to explain. Tweaks to improve responsiveness, or whatever that means.
A new update for Xbox One controllers is in testing, though, that has a very tangible (if still minor) benefit.
In addition to various “stability improvements” we see with any software or firmware update, the new version will lower the time it takes a controller to sync to the Xbox One from over four seconds to around two.
It’s not going to start the world on fire, but two seconds can make all the difference if, say, your controller battery dies mid-game.
The update is available right now for participants in the Xbox One preview program and should be out for everyone sometime in the near future.
