BlackBerry’s most affordable all-touch smartphone is now on sale in the U.K. The Z3, which was first introduced in Indonesia last May, runs the full BlackBerry 10 operating system and costs just £154.99 (approx. $234) off-contract.
In some ways, the BlackBerry Z3 is similar to many of its siblings — it boasts the same dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor as the Z10 and a 5-inch display like the Z30 (albeit with a lower resolution) — but it’s clear that this particular device was built to be affordable.
It has 1.5GB of RAM — less than any other BB10 smartphone — only a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, and no 4G LTE connectivity. It does have a microSD card slot and 108p video recording, however — plus a 2,500mAh battery that promises up to 15.5 hours of talktime, and up to 16.2 hours of standby time.
While it may not be the fastest phone out there, then, the Z3 is a great way to get your hands on BB10 if your budget’s tight. It has already been successful in emerging markets across Asia, and now thanks to Clove.co.uk, you can buy it in the U.K. for just £154.99 SIM-free.
Of course, some might argue that your money would be better off spent on a budget Android device, but if BlackBerry is your thing, don’t let that put you off. After all, the Z3 will run Android apps, and it will be upgraded to BB 10.3.1 just like its more expensive counterparts when the time comes.
