Minecraft Getting In-Game Name Changes

Minecraft on PlayStation 3 - 6

Mojang has announced that one change players like XxXBlockLayer420XxX have been asking about for a very long time is finally on the way: in-game name changes are coming to Minecraft.

Starting Feb. 4, according to Mojang, players will be able to freely change the name of their accounts. You just have to link your account to an email, and then you can change your screen name as you see fit.

There are some caveats, though. You can only change your name once every 30 days, so no constant quick swaps. Banning sticks to accounts, not screen names, so changing your name won’t lift any server restrictions. Old names won’t become available until 37 days after their original owners walk away… virtually.

So, name changes in Minecraft. This is good news, yes? My name will stay the same, mostly because I don’t play Minecraft anymore. What about you, though? Have a switch in mind?
