HTC is expected to announce the long-rumored One M9 (or whatever the company calls its next flagship phone) at a press event on March 1. Now, Bloomberg is reporting that the company could also reveal its first smartwatch at the same time as part of HTC’s new partnership with Under Armour.
Bloomberg doesn’t offer many details on the rumored watch, though it should work with Under Armour’s own fitness tracking platform. The athletic clothing company offers its own biometric chest strap along with an app for iOS and Android. Beyond that, it’s unclear how HTC plans to differentiate the device, though it looks like the phone-maker could be bypassing Android Wear for now.
The same report also offers some fresh details on the upcoming HTC One M9, which will allegedly offer a 20-megapixel primary camera and an UltraPixel camera in front. It’s also said to pack Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 810 processor, Dolby audio technology and the company’s own Android-based Sense 7 software.
On the design side of things, the M9 may not be much of an upgrade over last year’s One (M8). Bloomberg’s source says it will offer the same dimensions and color options in gold, gray and silver. We’ve also heard rumors that the company could be working on a new super-sized phablet, though it’s unclear when that device will launch.
