If you have any remaining doubt about how Microsoft is going to use its recent Mojang and Minecraft purchase for exclusive income, that should all be gone now. The company has gone the route of cheap texture and skin packs for their console versions of the game for now. That’s the way they’ll make money off this whole thing.
The most recent skin pack has been announced. This time around, Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners will have the option to drop $1.99 for a downloadable content pack that “will include the entire Simpsons family—Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie— plus 19 of Springfield Elementary School’s beloved characters from the Emmy Award-winning animated show and the longest-running scripted show in television history.”
That verbiage comes from Xbox Wire as it announced the pack.
The post did not announce any specifics regarding alternate platform availability of this content. Specifically, there is no mention regarding if or when the Simpsons stuff will hit PlayStation platforms that Minecraft also sells on. It only offer that readers “stay tuned for more information on THE SIMPSONS downloadable content pack on other platforms.”
That’s about it.
So, Minecraft fans who game on the Xbox One or Xbox 360… is this skin pack up your alley?
